I'm sure you'll know from what the hospital tell you but just in case they hadn't mentioned it and you needed to plan accordingly for the show!

The six weeks driving ban after surgery is a farce, what it really is : insurance company related! Apparently the anesthetic stays in your body in trace amounts for six weeks after the operation, and so you are classed as a slight insurance risk, even though all detectable effects of the aesthetic are gone within so many hours. The insurers aren't happy with the tiny possibility of the anesthetic being blamed in any case of lawsuits for dangerous driving, and so the hospital advice is given against driving. But there's just NO genuine medical reason for making it six weeks after any general anesthetic. Some surgeries will take a good six weeks or more to recover from to a point where you can comfortably and safely drive, others (like keyhole surgery on a minor issue) you're healed enough after a few days. The real, not-covering-ourselves-against-insurance-litigation medical advice is not to drive until you feel comfortable and competant doing so, and not to overdo the time/distance spent driving on your first few journeys. (Not a nurse or anything, just had a family member and a best friend and a colleage had surgery of varying levels recently and this got discussed a LOT because all three are drivers!)

Thanks for all the advice on what to bring, much appreciated! Camera is on the list, but I wouldn't have thought of cash (d'oh!) and then would have been looking sad-faced at the sales table, so thanks for saving me from that!!

Just re-read the poster for the show and saw you can have half a day if you wish. Often with my RA i cannot stay a full day which has put me off the other live shows but think I might bring my three (one to arrive in post any day now) and pop them in a class and see how they do will be exciting, I do guinea pig shows but this is a little different see you all there I will be the tubby blond with walking stick with Dad in tow lol

Julip shows are normally very relaxed events anyway - normally people do stay for the whole day, but the only time leaving early would really be an issue would be if you had models that needed to be in the championship at the end of the day! There's no stress involved in entering classes in a show like this, you don't need to plan ahead much and if you're not wanting to enter scene/ridden classes then it's as simple as placing your model on the right table at the right time

I'm the same with only having a few Julips so i'm happy to share a table with anyone else who has a small collection?

I might bring my small table I use at Guinea pig show if that is allowed lol You won't need to bring your own table - at live shows we tend to use tables set up around the outside of the hall (I think I said before, you might need to be prepared to share your table, but you'll still have plenty of space to sit down and display your herd!) and then in the middle of the table will be the 'show rings', which are just other tables where your models go when the time comes for their class. Laura will be all organised before the show, often tables are allocated to attendees before the day so when you get there you'll be directed to a table that has your name on it, so we won't run out of space

I'm so so excited for this! Can I be cheeky? Is anyone coming from the South West that I could hitch a lift with? I'll be living in Bath then, but can jump on an early train or something if needs be to somewhere a little closer to you or if anyone fancies sofa-lending I can train to you the night before...? would get the train to Oxford then onto the show, but the getting from Oxford station to Littlemore bit looks like it's going to scramble my brain!
