Growing up, there were always chestnut Saddlebreds in the barn, and even now, my family has three bright red Saddlebreds (and my retired copper chestnut Quarter Horse), that I obviously needed a chestnut "Quarter Horse" Julip. None came up in the spares, so I ordered one! I sent this picture of my mother showing her hunter, Cosmo, to Laura for reference, though really I wasn't too particular. (yes, huntseat is a bit different at Saddlebred shows) This is the lovely guy I got back! He's just perfect. Now I get to play with a Saddlebred again, though making tack is a bit different from tacking up and going for a ride.

Thanks! I'm still admiring him on my desk. There's a poor hound that got left out of my pony excitement making halters and taking pictures. He'll join the group soon. EG--That just means less competition for me when they're available!

How lovely to read you post - I am a great saddlebred fan. I have 2 (real ones!). My 5 gaited mare has just celebrated her 29th birthday! In my opinion there is nothing to beat riding a saddlebred

Good to know I'm not the only one here! It's great to hear your mare is still going strong, too. A good 5-gaited horse is just magical.
