Last friday was a very exciting parcel day. These were all models I acquired by trading some of my vintage Julips.
The most glaringly brick-orange Arab Champion I've ever seen (is way more ORANGE!!! in reality than the pics show, the same colour I think as the catalogue farm cob Flash who was brighter than other catalogue chestnuts). Is probably going to be rehaired once I can find where I hid my stash of hair and find a hair colour that doesn't badly clash with the body colour.
An apparently very sun-tanned Tosca with a yearling who I suspect could be older than her but they do fit together pretty well. Tosca has discoloured, her socks are very yellowed and she's more or less evenly gone much more golden-brown-toned than Tosca was supposed to be (there's a slightly paler area on her rump but it is mostly even). She's actually a closer match though like this to my buckskin Mustang so maybe they're related.
A Thoroughbred who is going to be modified to some degree but is a fairly close match to a model that was on my wants list
This lovely speckled red roan old mould Arab stallion. He needs his lower legs replacing (they are all completely misshapen and squishy) as well as paint touch ups and a new tail. Theoretically I was trying to cut down on vintage models (I didn't actually have that many left anyway) but I don't mind having ones that are already badly damaged in some way and need me to do some work on them.
And possibly most exciting despite being in the poorest condition, a Cleveland! i.e. one of the very few vintage moulds I still really really wanted. Despite that overbent headset we (his previous owner and me) are sure he is a Cleveland. His neck has basically totally collapsed.
This is slightly closer to what he should look like
though at the moment you have to force his head up and it will just collapse back again when it's not held there. I think he's going to end up with a plaited mane because I reckon trying to get his neck back into the right position and leave a deep enough neck slot for a loose mane is going to be almost impossible. I also intend to paint him bay, the speckled iron grey is pretty but I really do want an actually bay Cleveland and anyway there's no way I can salvage anything of his original paint job, he's going to have to be totally repainted anyway.
Also this is Champ the dalmatian who was my model of the month championship prize. He has leg and tail wires so he is slightly poseable.
