Beyond a super quick Christmas day facebook post on Just Julips, I don't think I have ever properly introduced the amazing trio of horses I got a couple of years back as Christmas pressies.
This little fella was almost a complete surprise as I knew I wanted a Dartmoor, New Forest or Shetland but honestly couldn't make my mind up about which or even the colour. So Laura chose for me and he was one of the best Christmas surprises ever! Peter has such lovely dapples and the most squishable little nose. His mohair grey mane and tail are beautifully blended.

Next up in my parcel was a big ginger TB, a portrait of a very soppy mare I loaned for a few months back in 2013. Her owner had some ponies and cobs living in a rented field and then took on two ex-racers. The two TBs were struggling on the poor winter grass and Ginger was in a bit of a state when I met her and very underweight. I got some help from a lovely local trainer and we soon had Ginger putting on weight with some high protein balancers and lots of hay. The trainer eventually bought Ginger from the owner and she is living a very happy and spoilt life now.

Julip Ginger is such a beautiful reddish chestnut. She was a leggy 3/4 year old when I knew her so the lanky TB mould suits her perfectly.

The final horse in my super Xmas parcel was a portrait of my old horse Tom. Tom was my first (and only!) horse - I bought him in 2009 and had two wonderful years with him until I had to sell him due to a relationship breakup and not having the means to care for him properly anymore. It was such a hard decision but he ended up with a nice lady for hacking and then spent a happy retirement with a field of mares (his idea of heaven!)

Laura created him in Julip form perfectly, capturing the lovely golden chestnut of his summer coat, and his gentle expression. Sadly my old gingernut has passed on now but I am so glad to have his Julip portrait to remind me of him in years to come. Thank you Laura.

Julip Tom is just as handsome as the real thing:
