Let me introduce you to the ponies I picked up at Julip Live in Oxford this year! I had an absolute blast: it was well worth the long trip!
Like last year I ordered myself a little something to pick up at the show. I gave Laura a rather vague description for a dappled blue roan on the New Forest mould, with a dropped head, plaits, white socks, a nice blaze and 'maybe a random spot on his belly'. And well: she absolutely nailed it! Here's Wolle's Mr. Badger!
Badgers seem to have been a reoccurring theme of my trip and as his colour is kind of badger-y, I just had to name him that! It all started when I just got of the ferry and (almost) bumped into a dead badger on the road... I was so amazed by their size: I actually thought it was a dead wolf at first, haha! On Friday, when having a fun day out with Rory and Tomas, I bought a very cute badger bag and well... on my way back home I saw another dead badger. Bit of a macabre story, but oh well!
I also picked up a portrait of my new bunny Saartje: a black Holland lop.
Saartje the bunny & Woozle the hedgehog
Not that soon after I arrived at the hall on Saturday the spares appeared! I really wasn't planning on getting any, except for maybe a pet or two. I just bought a new car last week, picked up an Equorum on Friday (that Tomas had been babysitting for me), and I had of course ordered Badger. In all the ramble I managed to pick up and let go of quite a few spares (including that roan Heavy Horse, but he wasn't the colour I was after), until I saw little Timmy Willie: a very cute donkey foal. Which, well, I didn't let go! I mean: he's rather small, so he can count as a pet, right?
I quickly made my way over to the yet untouched table of spare pets and picked up a very pretty green metallic pecking chicken (I forgot to take a photo of her, but I've named her Millie). There was also something new to find there: hedgehogs! I picked up two (naughty me, I know): one for myself and one will be a prize at the next Flock of Wool photo show! I've named mine Woozle.
And that's that! I'm so very happy with my new additions. It was also great to see and hold those lovely Heavy Horses: it really gave me a better idea of what I'd like to order myself some day!
And here's a little (out of focus, I'm struggling with the light in here today) family portrait, together with my (new, first and only ever) Equorum (he's a Fjord with an adjusted neck, for anyone who's interested to know!) Mr. Brown.
