Project II - The 'Elle Decoration' Old Barn
Yes, you've heard it right: I've decided to start another side project. I'm sure this one will take some time and I don't think I'll be able to finish it anytime soon. But that's okay, as most of the fun is in the making! I thought it would be nice to let you all follow along again, so let's discuss the project details!
-
Yesterday I had to make quite a trip for a business meeting, which turned out to be done and over within 20 minutes... On my way back home I vaguely remembered the fact that there must be a dollhouse shop somewhere along my route. After a rather puzzling drive along very narrow one-way roads I found the cutest little shop ever in a tiny old city. Inside there was lots and lots to see. Even though it was a really small store, the owner produced her own collection of laser cut wooden assembly kits. There were plenty of very lovely room boxes to choose from, lots of pretty furniture and even a really adorable gypsy wagon!
And yes, I did think about the gypsy wagon, but I decided to go for the country kitchen (www.iriginals.nl/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/keukenbox_2x.jpg)... Not the most obvious choice given the fact I collect ponies, but in my mind I saw it as the perfect base for a tack and feed room! I'm sure I wouldn't be able to create anything like that from scratch... and I rather enjoy taking something as it is and change it around into something different!
I plan on going into more detail with this project then I did with the last one. I'm thinking about trying out a few new and different weathering techniques (I love love love weathering things) to make the room box look as 'shabby chic' as possible. My inspiration comes from a couple of photographs from Elle Decoration magazine, that I've been drooling over for ages.
Unfortunately I can't start this project just yet: although I already made my pick, I have to wait a little longer to get the room box cut and delivered. But that's okay, it's a good reason to already start making a few general props, which will also come in handy for the live show. So that's it! I can't wait to get started and hope you enjoy following me along!
