The last part of my Julip shipment arrived in Texas yesterday! My friend and mentor, Sue, very kindly takes delivery of my US model horse purchases and then ships them over here to me - it's cheaper to have a bunch sent over than one at a time and many people don't like to ship overseas. So I wanted to get her something special as a thank you gift. (the blanket and halter were a little gift for myself ) She's not a Julip collector, but she was quite taken with the Foal mold when I showed her a picture of my little Fjordy foal, so I commissioned a baby portrait of her (now deceased) stallion, Taj Skornoble based off of a picture I had taken of him shortly before he passed. Sue always called him her "Colorado Teddy Bear" because for the first few years in Texas he would hair up so enormously in preparation for a Colorado winter that his ears would go completely round like a teddy bear. He was the sweetest old man and was very much missed by Sue's other stallion who continued to play tag over the fence with Skornoble's ghost for many years. Miss Laura whipped up this lovely little guy from my only and not terribly clear, picture. I got him sent out the day after he arrived here and he landed in his new home in less than two weeks!

Ooh, is it going to be an aviary? Or an enclosure for tame arctic foxes?

Looks very exciting! I'm thinking a large enclosure for all those bunnies?

It's an enclosure for something, but not for bunnies, birds, or foxes! Moving right along. Hopefully we can start "decorating" tomorrow.

Have you got some chickens or something? I think you'll find that chickens are in fact, birds. Some kind of rodent - squirrels maybe?

Whew. We've been going flat out to get things ready for the new arrivals. We got a call from the airline today, our new additions have been delivered to Heathrow and as soon as their paperwork is processed they'll be boarding the plane to their new home. With luck we'll be ready for them before they arrive!

It was a rush to the finish, but we made it! We only had a few minutes to bask in the glory of the new pen before the delivery lorry pulled into the yard. Recently a rather eccentric gentleman passed away down south. He was a Japanophile and his mission in life was to turn his estate into a little piece of Japan in the middle of the British countryside. His grandson and heir does not share this passion, so everything had to go. The art and furniture went quickly, but the animals were something more of a challenge. We managed to find room on our farm for a few refugees, four to be exact. We thought it would be less traumatic for the two ponies to be transported by ground, so they should be arriving in the next couple of days. The smaller creatures we had flown up. We are proud to announce that a pair of tanuki are now residents of our farm! They were a little shy at first...But they settled in quickly Cearan Mhoire Sasuke is the adventurous one and immediately began exploring their new home.Cearan Mhoire Ponkichi preferred to observe from the safety of a nesting basket.I think they'll be happy here. Now we're off to clean some stalls for the new ponies!
