Ruyterhuys, what does that mean? It's old Dutch for rider's house: a tack shop! Hi there darlings! I decided to make a little thread where I post photos of all my little creative projects, instead of creating separate ones. I'm eagerly waiting for my very first Julip and I feel obliged to let my little girl arrive in a cosy stable spoiled with bespoke tack and things! As my summer holiday has just started, I decided to make some 1/12 scale props already. As sizing is a bit of a difficulty I won't make her fitted tack until she's here. First up: two bags of oats! I remember making these when I was a young girl and drawing on little horses and well known brand names. I plan to iron on some retro logos later, once I get my hands on a pack of transfer paper (and my laptop returns from the repairs). And yes: there's some very real bunny food in there. And next: a fleece plaid. No idea why I decided to make this next, but it was a good way to practise making buckles. They're a bit crap though, as the wire I use is way to soft and bendy. If I want to get them to actually properly work, I need to get my hand on some proper 1/12 scale buckles. Right now I'm working on some fencing, brushes, apples and... bunnies! See you soon! P.s. Excuse the not-so-nice photographs. I don't have Lightroom at hand, so I've to rely on my phone to edit.

Good to see that your future Julips will be spoiled! It's such a lovely thing about starting a collection, being able to make bits and bobs for all of them

I'm having lots of fun already and have plenty of things on the list! I've always loved making props, so it's great to get creative again!

Another prop fanatic, hooray. I love finding and making things for my stables, I need to find a day to set the whole lot up in the garden and photograph it.

Now this is going to sound really stupid....but.....what's a fleece plaid? Hahaha, now I feel stupid. I seriously always thought that was a general term: but it's nothing more then a rectangular wooly blanket. I often keep one at the stables to crawl under myself if it's really cold and I'm watching others in the arena.

Hahaha, well: it really is the actual name for it in the Netherlands, but I now truly wonder who came up with it. The only Dutch word that comes close in sound is 'kleed' (tablecloth). But I've got no idea how that turned into 'plaid'. Edit: Oh, and to add to that: we did however steal the word 'tartan' for patterned blanket!

Of course, making things for your yard is the best part of collecting. I may not have show winning models, but they have the nicest equipment.

First two brushes! I had to model them after my two favorite real ones: a black soft brush and a sheepskin one. I didn't have any skeepskin on hand: but I do have a pile of unspun wool and some sheep skiver. So I basically turned Frankenstein and made those parts back into a piece of sheep again. Oh, and yay for making things look old: I suck at keeping stuff looking brand new anyway.

Those are fantastic! I love the vintage look to them. I could never make anything so tiny.

I used to be able to make things like that but now my stumpy fingers get in the way so I stick to the bigger stuff, like stable blocks, lol! You should make some to sell, I would buy some for sure!

Those are seriously awesome - spoiling your ponies is definitely half the fun. Some of mine have about three rugs each, depending on the weather/season. XD

I'm actually planning on making a stable too, but I'm sure that I'm way to clumsy to turn that in something brilliant.
