A couple of weeks ago Jan put some of her herd up for sale, looking for loving new homes, I managed to resist at first but one horse in particular stuck in my mind, so I went back to see if he'd sold yet, and when I saw he was still waiting to be chosen, I just had to give in and let him come here This is Thoresby... And this is the reason I had to buy him : He's the long-lost brother of my cob stallion Cavendish! I think they were probably painted together, if not in the exact same batch, then in quick succession of seperate batches, cos the colouring is identical. So I'm going to say they're half brothers, born the same year to different mares but by the same stallion - that explains how one of them's grown up a little taller and a lot chunkier Thoresby enjoying the first sun for ages - I wanted to take his pictures when I had a day off friday, and it poured all day, then I hoped for sunday, and the same happened again, so he's ended up having to wait a full week after arrival to be photographed and introduced. He came snug in his own rug, as Jan pointed out they're very Harecrofty colours! And cos I took it and may as well post it, here's one of just Cavendish on his own, cos his old picture was a bit dark and grainy

The background here is the inside of a Breyer box, the grass in the photo is a perfect colour match for my railway-grass road verge so they work really well together. There was a tin of baked beans holding up the fence just out of shot on the right

And regards the colour, I ordered an olive/dun/grullo thing (hunter - Rocksteady - lives in Hong Kong now I think) and when he came these two popped up on eBay so I guess they were all painted together, yes
