He's here I'm still counting myself lucky for getting to this one first, he was my favourite of the whole batch and I've not been so excited about a Julip parcel for ages!
Such a pretty colour, I love the speckled roany shading under his spots, most of my spotted julips have been blanket spot or leopard spot, so it's really nice to add another version of appaloosa to the herd, this one's semi leopard but when I went to Google to look up 'liver chestnut semi leopard appaloosa' to show you a referency photo, they're all model horses in the image search results, not real ones!
I really like the shading on his face, he's got paler cheeks and a lot of browner shading, looks really nicely detailed.
His hair has so many colours in it, a really beautiful mix! It's gone lovely and wavy, too. I don't wet the hair when I tame it, just a trim to a slightly more practical length, put some Asda aerosol mousse stuff on and worked it in with my fingers, combed it flat, then combed it through when dry to fluff it up a bit cos the mousse tends to make it look wet, but does seem to make it stay down and not stick out in funny directions, so I think it's worth using. My mum has no idea I'm using her hair mousse on my Julips
Another shot of the lovely mane colour mixture!
In the shade when a cloud came over, he looks browner here
And his spots from above
I haven't named him yet, I did have an idea in mind but once he was here it didn't suit him so I'll have to think again and try not to call him Spotty in the meantime or that'll stick like my real one is still referred to as Foal all the time
