We are very pleased to announce that Julip tack and rugs are once again available to buy or order either through the e-mail address on the website or messaging me on this forum.
The rugs come in five sizes : large horse, medium horse, pony, yearling and foal and are available in a variety of colours and bindings, they come complete with a leather surcingle, the bridles are made to measure and can be ordered with either a plain or fancy brow band in your choice of colours, head collars and coloured lead ropes are also available and finally leather saddles in three sizes: small, medium and large, for photos and more information, please go to the Julip Originals website (www.juliporiginals.co.uk/new-page-2/)
I'd like to say a huge 'thank you' to Jan Hagues for her time and offering her fantastic tack making services to enable Julip to have such well fitting saddles and beautifully made bridles and head collars.

Are the surcingles a British thing? I never saw a horse blanket like that until the ones for Julips. Anyway, what fun to have tack! I'm still going to see if I can't make my own, but the saddle is awfully tempting The stirrups are so much nicer than whatever bent wire contraptions I come up with.

The rugs are based on an older fashion of rug when they just used to have a surcingle or roller to keep the rug in place, unlike the rugs of today which have all the leg straps. I wanted to keep the general Julip feel with the tack and rugs , so it's relatively 'basic' to keep the cost down but a bit better fitting.

We still use rugs without belly straps and use a surcingle or a roller, they're just not as common now as they used to be

The small saddle will fit the pit pony perfectly, if you would like to see a photo I can get one for you tomorrow

Yes I would like a photograph as if it looks nice then I will be ordering multiple sets! I did ask for a saddle to fit a pit pony years ago and ended up one that was far too big, which has been annoying me since!

Here's a photo of the saddle, the bridles are made to measure so I don't have any but if you would like to order any sets, I can speak nicely to Jan and maybe be able to collect them from her at the show in November

Thanks Laura.
Unfortunately I am not going to any shows. I am no hurry as I have to make a list of Julips needing tack.

It's so nice that you've stuck to the classic designs for the rugs and tack, with one notable exception which always bugged me too - the headcollars now have the throat strap instead of a browband! I never did like that when I got my first few Originals, and used to flip the browband on mine round so it went underneath, but then you could see the inside of the leather so it still didn't look right, heh

I forgot to mention in the initial post that I also have a large amount of the original vintage head collars in various colours and in all the four sizes ( S, X, Y & Z), these head collars tend only to fit the vintage Julips. The very old catalogues will have the relevant letter size for each model, if anyone is interested in them and would like any further information or would like to order any please message me, they will cost £2.00 each plus postage.

oh this is really great! i've always admired jan's tack and this combines her skills with the old julippy feel. also i really like how you use the blank models for the illustrative photos - it's so clear and helpful.
