So I was snooping around the original website and saw that Julip is 69 years old this year! Since next year is the big 70, will there be anything special to commemorate?

Has Amanda got her blue foal yet?
Apparently it is traditionally sapphire and platinum.

Definitely!
We have some ideas already but it would be nice to get everyone's input as to what they would like a bit nearer the time.

I think some online things would be ideal for those of us who live too far away, can't get time off work/school, or don't have transport, for getting to the live shows. A full classlist photo show would be great as I don't think Julip have ever done one of those before, it would get everyone being creative and doesn't cost much to take part - it can be completely free if you use the real outdoors as your scenery. Or maybe a simpler photo competition like they have had in the past, with a theme or a few categories. For people who can't take pics, or don't fancy that sort of thing, there could be an art/colouring contest, those have always gone down well and everyone can have a go! A special run model would be a brilliant long-term memento of the anniversary, we've had Horse of the Year ones in the past but an Originals 70th would be lovely, it could even be a mare and foal so people can pick what their budget allows.

I think the donkey mare and foal set would be ideal as they encompass both the old and new

My blue foal arrived safe and sound earlier this year, he is called Tardy! He arrived with Belle, a grey new mould lippi who is a wedding present, and three very elderly julips from the archive who need a bit of medical care.

As to potenial 70th events/ items, how about a commemorative rug? Kind of as a buget priced souvenier that is easily posted. A limited edition jump might be good as well, in a different colour to normal.

Or a rosette might fit with the same sort of thing, I know lots of use used to collect the full sized annual and special ones and that would be quite easy to organise too

I definitely support an on-line offering, especially for those of us who are international collectors. Smaller offerings--I like the blanket suggestion--sound great for a show or local collectors, but I'm more likely to pay the shipping costs for a model. I like the mare and foal idea to offer two different price points, though even a special dog or cat on the lower end might be nice. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Yes I have a few of the rosettes and they are nice. I also like the sound of the photo comp/colouring comp because overseas collectors can participate with no disadvantage.
