None of these are particularly new, some of them I've had for years now but I don't think I ever got round to introducing or even photographing them (or styling their hair in some cases, as you can probably see). I've always wanted to get models of all the real horses I knew along with a couple of 'celebrity' horses I always liked. I had to sell quite a lot of other models to be able to buy some of these but now I've got models of most of those real horses. A few I did have models of previously but they weren't right, in several cases because a lot of the Julip moulds weren't in use then so I'd had to get them on moulds that didn't really work for them, and a couple I had as HOTY customs but really wanted proper Originals versions of them.
Cornish you may know as he just won the Model of the Month championship poll. He was one of my christmas horses last year and was based on a real horse so I'll introduce him properly.
Billy was my other christmas horse last year, also based on a real horse.
Rosso was another real horse I rode, one of my favourites. I got her years back now but didn't seem to have any pics of her.
Martha. Another real horse. Did somehow manage unfortunately (and inexplicably, since her box was totally undamaged) to get damaged in transit, she arrived with her legs bent so badly underneath her (they were literally bent at right angles) that the paint had split all up her legs. I could have sent her back to get them repainted but since that could have altered her existing paintjob and with this mould having quite thick legs which aren't especially bendy anyway I decided to keep her as she is and just fill in the cracks with paint. She now spends most of her time wearing very fetching yellow leg wraps but I took them off to take her photo.
Bridie. Portrait model of a cob mare I rode on holiday once.
and Domino. I went on a two hour hack on that holiday; Bridie I rode in the second hour but for the first hour I rode a leopard spotted mare. I'm not actually 100% certain her name was Domino, for years and years I could not remember her name and then suddenly out of the blue a few years back I thought 'Was her name Domino?' I could have just imagined it but since I can't remember anything to the contrary and the name makes sense for a spotted pony I'm going with Domino.
Lollipop. Accidental portrait model from one of the spares batches, she was perfect for a mare at the stables where I did work experience when I was a kid that I wanted a model of. I never especially liked this mould as a HOTY but as an Original I think it's lovely.
Beans. One of the old catalogue models; I wanted one for ages and finally managed to get one though annoyingly only after I'd just bought a new version of it (who was beautiful, but I didn't really click with it as I guess my heart was still set on owning an actual catalogue model. I've since rehomed the new one). Real Beans was a horse at the stables where I used to ride. I'm debating whether to rehair her as though she has that nice soft synthetic hair rather than that awful later stiff white hair, the glue in her mane and tail is badly yellowed.
Possibly called Jared II (I sold the original Jared but I still like the name). My birthday horse from this year. I suspect this is one of the least popular moulds but I still have a huge weakness for this mould since I always loved the original rubber HOTY version, and I knew I wanted something in this very red chestnut as soon as I saw other models in this colour.
Jamie. Another spare, not a portrait or anything, I just fell in love with him the moment I saw him and as I didn't have a Clydesdale foal already I decided to go for him and managed to get him. He's a slightly modified one with a turned head/neck and extra feathering I think.
And lastly 2 'celebrity' horses. I don't like horse racing but when I was a kid/teenager, Red Rum and Desert Orchid were two of the main famous horses I knew of and I loved both of them. My Red Rum was a special order, my Desert Orchid technically was a special order originally but he was one I got years back now but didn't really take to in his original form so I ripped out his grey mane and tail, rehaired him with white hair, changed his eye colour from blue to brown and gave him the pink snip to make him a portrait of Desert Orchid and now I really love him. (He had discoloured weirdly but it's actually less noticeable with the off-white hair than it was with the dark grey hair)
