I've tried to make saddlepads several times in the past, using glue and/or my sewing machine and I've always ended up with a scruffy, gluey mess that I've chucked away. Yesterday was my last day off before starting back at work, so I decided to sit at my sewing machine and keep practicing until I finally produced one I was happy with. These are the results! By no means perfect but a lot neater than any past attempts and I think the horses look smart in them. Mikey was my first model and got the purple pad: Saddle pads by Mumble Swampea, on Flickr Next I made one with some black short-pile velour type fabric, which seemed to suit Des nicely: Saddle pads by Mumble Swampea, on Flickr Ginger looks nice in blue so decided on a slate grey/blue one for her: Saddle pads by Mumble Swampea, on Flickr I am a bit limited on colours right now but I have some more fabric/cord on order so hopefully I'll be able to do some more exciting combos.

I love the quilting on these, you can never buy material with small enough 'quilts' (?) and I'm hopeless at sewing in evenly spaced straight lines!
