I've been wanting to do some sort of stable/yard building in honey coloured Cotswold stone for ages now. We have a lot of it in my home county of Oxfordshire. This weekend I finally felt inspired and motivated enough to take a crack at it. The bricks are carved from an A4 foam sheet, textured with balled up aluminium foil, painted and then dry brushed / washed etc. The doors are lolly sticks painted black then dry-brushed to look like old wood. The bolt is an old magpie one and the hinges are just a few layers of metal tape sprayed black - at some point I'm going to try and turn them into working hinges but right now it's held together on the reverse with bluetack It was not a quick win... I think it must have taken about 15 hours all together but I did change my mind about having a wood frame inside the stone doorway that the hinges could attach to, rather than just attach them to the stone as originally planned. It came out a touch big so more suitable for bigger Julips. Des looks pretty happy in there but my cob stallie's had trouble fitting over the door! As it's just the front of the stable, I wasn't really sure what to use as the back of the stable in pics so just grabbed some black card.
