Here's my Storm, without any hesitation it HAD to be him for my entry suiting this month's theme - he's the horse who was in more editions of the catalogue than any other Julip!

I'm not sure I have any catalogue models from 2000 onwards, mine all seem to be 1990s ones and I also don't know what was removed from the catalogue when. So my entry will have to be Taffy (and Patch)

This might help - it's a bit messy cos some of them were sold by description first then with names later, so I've put colour & mould AND the name even if it didn't have one in that year, plus descriptions for those which only ever appeared with names - but here's which catalogue models were in which catalogues post-2000 :

So my entry will have to be Taffy (and Patch) This is absolutely fine, maybe I should have said any catalogue model but I couldn't remember when the colour catalogues actually started but Taffy was definitely in one of the early catalogues so no problem at all

So being new to collecting, I am a little confused about catalogue models? Were all julips prior to Laura catalogue models?

So being new to collecting, I am a little confused about catalogue models? Were all julips prior to Laura catalogue models? No, when Annabel ran Julip and still owned both sides of the company, the Originals and the Horse of the Year range, they got combined into one catalogue after a few years. So the catalogue would have mostly the HOTY models in it but then it would have a few catalogue Originals as well. But you could still order specials Originals (where you chose the mould and colour/markings) as well usually then and there were sometimes one off 'spares' models made for sale at shows or occasionally online then as well. The catalogue models were just a sort of personality model, with a name and made on a specific mould with specific colouring/markings but they would be less unique than getting a special order so with them you didn't have to pay the extra amount like you would to get a more unique special order. (Before the HOTY and Originals range got combined into one catalogue, the catalogues were separate and the Originals catalogue featured more just examples of what moulds and colours could be ordered, though there were definitely a few named models as well featured in the mid 1990s catalogue.)

So being new to collecting, I am a little confused about catalogue models? Were all julips prior to Laura catalogue models? You can see some of the old catalogues on the Julip ID site ( Here), it’s generally the originals from 2000 onwards that feature in the catalogues that collectors refer to as catalogue models. As ASIS says, you could order custom models in this time but they cost more and often took a lot longer to arrive.

Here is my Gypsy. This is my first time entering a show on the forum (or even posting, come to that, so hello!), so I hope I've done everything OK. Annoyingly, I couldn't get my camera to pick up her colour properly. Julip Gypsy by Morgan, on Flickr

I've decided to go with Flame, he was one of my first originals and I like to think he is a fairly classic catalogue model Flame by Stacey Stacey, on Flickr

Having never ordered any models straight from the catalogue, I'm not 100% sure which of my models are catalogue models but I'm fairly sure that Crackerjack here is Crackerjack by Beth Ghest, on Flickr

I don't have that many catalogue models but this is one of my favourites, Wellington (Catalogue Oliver) with his devoted handler Kelly.
