I want to get a Pit Pony at some point. However, I like to have a breed or type already specified before I choose colour. What breeds could a Pit Pony be?

First one that pops to my mind is a Welsh Mountain.

I think a lot of folk have them as Shetlands, which suits them, aside from the long and pointy head. I've always thought of them as Shetland/Welsh Sec A or an American Miniature Horse, but that said, they have the perfect amount of cheekiness to pass as a Shetland... XD

I think they make good Shetlands except for being quite long in general - so like EG says Shetland x Welsh might work well I have one as a portrait of a pony I was always told was Shetland but I think he must have been a cross with something a bit bigger.
