I've been sorting out all my tack (I had waaaay more than I thought I did!) and have a bag of headcollars I no longer require, so I'll be selling them at the show for a couple of quid each. They're not all my best work as they're a bit old, and some have glue stains and things but I'd rather they were used than chucked in the bin!
That said, I want to make some new ones too, so what kind of sizes/colours should I make? I've got a ridiculous selection of ribbons so I've got pretty much every colour, lol. I'll probably do leadropes too as I've finally cracked how to do two and three colour twisted ones.

Newmarket ones! And pretty much anything that fits the FH fits most of the other moulds too.

Pony sized ones. I can do TB and FH ones just about but really struggle with the pony sized ones.

This is a little off the point but not entirely but... what happened with my headcollars you still owe me? Did you ever make those (or find the ones you made originally for me and then lost)?

The magpie ones? I've got a few, but I completely forgot what colours you wanted for the rest! If you let me know I can make them up this week and FINALLY post everything to you - it's taken far too long and I can't apologise enough for it.

That's fine, mostly I was just wondering if you had more tack than you thought you did because some of the stuff was what you made for me that went missing. I think I said apart from a brown magpie arab one just pretty much anything Julip/Magpie horse sized in any colours except pastelly colours would be fine (I probably prefer bright blue, red, bright purple and colours like turquoise and teal for tack, but anything else/anything that doesn't fit anything in my herd can always be used as props in my model saddlers), although I could do with a red Julip welsh sized one. Thank you.

lol, I did just find a brown magpie sized one so I must have read that somewhere. XD I'm just finishing off a bright purple FH sized one, and so far have orange, navy and green ones too, as well as a yellow and purple magpie Arab sized ones. I can't remember how many you actually wanted but Ill just keep going, lol.

Here's what I'll be bringing to the live! I haven't photographed the older ones but they're mostly red/dark blue and FH/HOTY sized. image by Christine Sutcliffe, on Flickr} I'm still making them so there'll probably be more. XD (and I'm making yours too Laura, don't worry!)

Gorgeous! I love the one with the hearts (I think those are hearts?!) Do you make them to order as well? for those of us who really, really want to come to the live but sadly live 6000 miles away?

They look great, EG! I never end up buying headcollars, I always seem to think there's no point when I've got so many horses to kit out and it feels a bit unfair doing just a few. Really I ought to have a big day of making a load myself sometime, but I'll have a look at yours at the show - even just as props they look really neat

Yup, they're hearts!
I don't tend to take orders because as Laura will no doubt attest to, I'm a terrible procrastinator, but I'm in a headcollary mood so if you tell me what you're after I'll see if I can manage it. XD

Wow! So many pretty colors! I also like the little hearts one. I really wanted to make a halter with a ribbon I found that was white with red maple leaves on it, but it was too wide. There needs to be more fancy, thin ribbon!

Oh I know! I've got some lovely patterned stuff I'd love to have in headcollar forum but they're about twice the width I need! After years of struggling I've finally mastered the art of making two and three colour leadropes...and have subsequently gone a bit overboard. XD Leadropes by Christine Sutcliffe, on Flickr}

I've got about 2 boxes full of patterned ribbon that's mostly too wide for headcollars, a lot of it I'm intending to use for surcingles and girths and that sort of thing but I'm still wondering if it's possible to fold it over (probably around a base strip of thin leather or something) to use it for headcollars or browbands (folding each side down and tucking them under, not folding it in half). If it worked I know it wouldn't look right for some patterns as it would cut off some of the pattern but for simpler patterns like stripes it should still look fine. But I hate making even straightforward tack so I've not attempted it so far.

Yeah, I think they're my favourite! I've been poring over old tack catalogues for inspiration. XD
