I wasn't sure where to put this as the model isn't exactly a Julip, but doesn't it look like the Julip Foal has a mirror-image cousin? :)She seems to be made of a light-weight (and rusty) metal - pot metal maybe? - and is covered with a crackled coat of very thick enamel or paint. I've shown her with the Julip Donkey for scale.

Yes it does! Is this the one that was on eBay a while ago?

Aww! Wasn't the Julip one originally cast from another model - maybe a Beswick? (Many years ago now so I'm sure it's okay to mention it now - whoever did it is no longer part of Julip.) It could be something to do with that production line?

It could be something to do with that production line? Just did a Google search on the Besi foal, yep, looks like that's what mine is a copy of. Interesting!

Yeah, I think a few of the older moulds were recasts of other makes - the QH and yearling spring to mind - to compete with the more realistic models other companies were making at the time. Totally unacceptable these days of course, but because of the way Julip moulds degrade and age over time, they've lost the detail and what made them so obviously copies so they're more 'Julip' than recasts I think.
