Five of Castlerigg's Julip horses turn forty years old this year -
Marco, The Rainmaker, Marie-Claire and Sasha ...
... and Montedoro Hanna, commonly known as Hanno.

Ooh - these are from the time when I would have given anything to own a Julip, but wasn't allowed to have one . They look to be in lovely condition - Sasha is just gorgeous. Lucky you to have them.....

They're all lovely but I think Hanno's my favourite. Oh what I wouldn't give to bring the old Lippi back!

The Rainmaker looks so tall compared to the others! Congrats on taking such good care of your old ponies!

Thanks, everyone, we're lucky to have these guys and to have been able to keep them in the conditions which seem to suit them.
from Lesley: Christine-chai, I'd settle for someone to take the current Lippi model, hack it in two, lengthen the body, and then remould ... do I have a volunteer?

Haha, yes, and the same with the ID! If anyone has any bodies they'd like to donate I'd be happy to attempt some corrective surgery.

I too, I'd just like to be able to make saddles that don't make their backs look even shorter than they are! XD

For Sasha's fans, and for Christine, who asked about Marco ... a couple of portraits - Marco Sasha These two were bought to use in a diorama as a chariot team being harnessed up. They looked very fetching and stole the show! Sasha has the distinction of being a genuine Julip "spare". Portrait models and "special colours" had to be specially requested and cost more. For a while, Julip was in the habit of painting up two specimens in these cases, sending the "best" to the customer and the "spare" to Beauchamp Place ... which is where we bought him. I like Sasha too, he has a sweet face. Is he a NF?

Yes he is, Josie. He was sold in the standing position, but he's stiffened up now and will stay as he is as he slowly turns into an antique!

Sasha's a stunner, I love that style of dappled grey, I don't think they painted them that way for many years cos I can only think of a very few examples in the collections of people I've known from forums and shows, and we seem to have a pretty good cross-section of what was ever made between us!

They are lovely - congratulations to them all. My first Julip was a bay NF from Beauchamp Place.
