I get a little hank of hair, flatten it out and dip one end in the glue, then gently apply to the leg, smoothing it out as it goes on! Any chance of a video tutorial?

No, it dries clear! Just don't use too much or it might peel off, lol You can see the join between mohair and latex, but if you take your time and don't try to do it all in one go, you should be fine. Also, start from the bottom and work up! Thanks! (Also, did I ever mention I adore Fred? I need a hairy cob like him!)

When I brush my julips hair out, it goes all poofy :3. Is there any way to prevent that?

Don't bush it too often! XD
I'd also recommend getting a little water spray/mist bottle, so you can dampen the hair down every now and again before you brush it which helps it to keep it's shape. I need a new one as the one I've had for the last ten years finally died a death last week!

You can use hair mousse, but if you're me you'll get it everywhere apart from the horse as we figured out at the live show

Hmm when I think about how clumsy I can be when I do fiddly things I think I might stick with the mist bottle :3 thanks though!

Is anyone able to tell me how much mohair do I need to make a moderate (think Friesians) featherings? I'm not sure if I need to buy a whole hank just for that

I need to re-hair a newly acquired chesnut Julip. Both mane and tail which were cut short by its previous owner.
This looks daunting to say the least!
Any advice for beginners, and where do you get the mohair from?

The tutorial that EG made is a really good guide and a lot of people have successfully re-haired their Julips by following it, I can definitely recommend it and we would love to see photos of the finished model with it's new hair-do, good luck

Hi! The repair shop I work at has this wavy wool that I think is Unspun. Would it work for rehairing?

It’s wavy and fluffy, kind of like what you would use for a doll’s wig!

I think almost any fibre will work, however you won’t be able to get it as silky and shiny as mohair or other natural fibres. It’d be great for fluffy ponies though as their hair is always a bit wild looking!

Thank you. You make it look so easy. I hope that I have the nerve to give it a go.

There are far more experienced people on here than me, but I have re-haired a few vintage Julips and I find it really difficult to get the short bits of hair out. Sometimes it seems as though the hair is glued to the horse's stuffing and it just does not want to budge. But if you don't get it out there is no room to push the new hair down. I have resorted to using a scalpel to scrape the inside of the neck and it does not seem to have damaged the model. So much easier to re-hair the synthetic haired later models where it sometimes comes out in one long, satisfying strip Maybe there might be a way to glue on pre-made plaits on top of the old hair? she would look smart plaited. I wonder if anyone has tried this?

I wonder if anyone has tried this? I'd most likely either slice my finger off or behead the horse if I went after her with a scalpel 😂 I might have another try at plants... I find it difficult to get them a uniform size and spacing though.
