With the trio of new arrivals from last week's Pet Spares Night, I thought it was time to take some updated photos of my flock of hens The whole lot! There's still several breeds/colours Julip have done but I haven't managed to catch in time, so don't think the flock will stay this size forever - I have a chicken wishlist A blue leghorn hen, who I've called Sybil because my cockerel is a blue leghorn named Basil Sybil and Basil together, she was the one I was most hoping to get on spares night, so I'd have a matching pair Here's hen number two, a barred plymouth rock, I've called her May cos spares night was the last day of may. And a new hampshire hen (the black speckles round the neck tell her apart from other dark red breeds), her name is June because they arrived in june. Both pecky hens The whole group : first I got Una, then at a live show picked out a whole batch which I named Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme, and Basil, there's a single speckly one who doesn't have a name yet, then today's Sybil, May, and June.

What a lovely flock! This reminds me I have a hen house kit I really would love to get around to doing, and it would be fun to craft some feeders similar to your excellent (or should I sat eggcellent 😎) ones 😀

I was thinking of making a second cardboard house for them now I have so many, if they were real and needed roosting space it'd be getting pretty crowded in there! I'm thinking of doing a different shape and wood colour so it looks different enough and isn't a repeat of making the same thing twice. I still eat the same biscuits as henhouse #1 was made from, so I have plenty of boxes to recycle! Then I have no excuse not to add the 'missing' chicken breeds to the flock, and if you have enough hens and plenty of room, you can also have two cockerels without them squabbling, and although I don't regret picking my grey Basil, I'd also love one of those gold/red/black ones with multicolour patches, they're so pretty!

I'm so pleased you like your new additions, I'm looking forward to seeing how the new hen turns out and like samantha, I absolutely love your feeders, so clever!
