one of my favourite julip colours has always been the speckly grey that the catalogue storm has, and on a couple of other threads it's come up how different the colour has been over the years. i took a quick pic of my three julips this colour lined up in age order and you really can see how much it's changed. dancer (DH) has horrible rubs and brightling (CJP) has gone yellow and semi-sticky very fast... storm himself is definitely holding up the best despite being oldest.

I always loved Storm in the catalogue, I wanted him for a very long time. He's a kind of catalogue legend it's interesting to see the variations, how old are Dancer and Brightling? Seeing them all lined up puts it in to perspective just how pony-ish the dressage horse is!

dancer's a 2008 special order, brightling's a 2009 julip live spare so there's just over a year between them i think. next to storm dancer looks so tiny, haha.

Interesting how differently they turn out when painted by different people. I only have the catalogue models Storm and his son Lightning, but my Storm is a lot less speckly than a lot of peoples', and his yearling is MORE speckled than most!

the manes are different too - dancer's is really blended compared to the other two. but yeah your yearling is super spotty!

Oooh storm was such a nice colour in the catalouge! It's a shame your CJP has gone sticky so quickly.
