The other day, I was outbid on an eBay auction, so I posted on Facebook to see if anyone had any Julips they were looking to part with since I was still wanting a Julip fix! Then, the very next morning, these two popped up on eBay! Oddly enough, they were from a seller in the United States (where I live!) and I’d bought model horses from her (though not Julips) on more than one occasion before. So I figured it was meant to be!! I put in offers for both of them which the seller accepted and I’m so happy to add them to my collection! They both have such gorgeous faces and I’m absolutely in love with them! The seller actually bought them from the dispersal sale of the collection of a woman named Karen Grimm (Black Horse Ranch). Karen was an incredible collector and artist who actually had her own model horse museum. These two must have been a part of it! Unfortunately, Karen passed away some years back and her family had to sell her collection to pay for the care of her real horses. It feels special to own horses from a collection as amazing as the Black Horse Ranch collection and I will certainly treasure them! And I’m debating on whether or not to remove the tack from the AQH. I’m not sure I’d be able to put the bridle back on if I took it off, but I’m worried about it rubbing his gorgeous eyes if I leave it there! Any input is appreciated! For names, I just talked to my friend and we came up with Fitzwilliam for the AQH and Meryton for the Welshie So without further ado, here are Friar's Wood Meryton and Friar's Wood Fitzwilliam! Personally I'd take the tack off the QH, I hate leaving models tacked up. From those pics the bridle doesn't look like it's a great fit for him (it is quite far over near his eyes) or like it's in the best condition anyway so perhaps you could get/make him a simple bridle with a buckle so you can still put one on him but without rubbing his paint and keep that one just for display or use it on a model with a slightly smaller head maybe.
They're both really nice (I have a welsh really similar to that one, maybe they're siblings).

I'd love to see a picture of it sometime! And thank you for the input about the bridle! I think I will go ahead and take it off! It could do with a good cleaning anyway, and looking closer at his face it's already rubbed his eyes a little (who knows how long he's had it on for!).

These are both fabulous!
I think you should be fine taking the tack off, it may be better in some ways as they can discolour in a bit of an odd way, leaving lighter patches where the tack has been.

Thank you so much! I did go ahead and take the tack off! Thankfully there wasn't too much discoloring from it, especially considering how long he probably had it on for. His eyes did get a little rubbed, but thankfully only the black parts so hopefully I'll be able to touch him up without too much trouble.
