A while ago I got a new Julip arab mare and made her a beaded Bedouin-style halter and collar set - and found I really enjoyed making them, so I ended up starting a couple more. But of course I start far more things than I finish, so the bits got put aside and left, not just for a few days or weeks, but for a couple of years - oops! At the end of last year I got another arab Julip, a stallion this time, and decided to make him a set of his own - this reminded me that I'd got unfinished ones somewhere, so I've been completing those, and making a few other bits as well
You can see some examples of the style on real horses, here here and here
The first set I finished, for Echo, which some of you might have seen before :
The next two sets together, navy blue and yellow with extra beading :
The new rose grey (I can't decide whether he should be named Winter or December so at the moment he's not getting called either )
And older arab stallion Larkhill's yellow set :
While I was looking up photos for making these, I kept seeing this black and white patterny set one of the companies had made up as a special order, and ended up wanting to make that as well, so Galileo got a present
A purple halter (cos I didn't realise I didn't have enough thread for a whole set til halfway through making this much, heh)
And finally (for now!) a green set, another one I started aaaages ago then lost, but have now found and finished
I think this one's the most detailed yet, I did the fimo/beady decorations a different way cos they wouldn't stick together, and that's made them turn out a little bit smaller and neater
Modelled by Harvest Moon :
I have to stop now, though, cos I don't have any more arabs to make them for - I've got others in the various arab moulds Julip make, but not in true-arab colours, so til I buy more horses, I can have a rest from braiding and beading things
