Lovely smart rugs for the Dartmoor and pit pony armies! Love that kumihimo braiding, don't think I've heard of it or seen it before

Fabulous rugs - Julips really look good in bright colours and patterns!
Those leadropes are amazing, I'd never heard of Kumihimo braiding before - so I searched for it online - looks complicated!?!

After seeing your post I jumped on Amazon and bought a disk. It came yesterday and I've spent today experimenting. Thank you for the idea!

Those leadropes are amazing, I'd never heard of Kumihimo braiding before - so I searched for it online - looks complicated!?! Thank you! Honestly, it's not as bad as you might think, it's basically 3 steps repeated. The worst part for me is getting the threads lined up in the right place! Once you've done that you take the bottom left thread and move it to the top left spot. Then take the top right thread and move it to the bottom right. Finally spin the wheel anti-clockwise and repeat There are plenty of clearer explanations online - I found this one quite good. Also, I suggest you start with an 8 strand pattern, then move on to 16 if you want to. I find different multiples much more difficult - so even a 6 strand one is more confusing in my opinion. I made my own disc to see if I liked it before buying a foam one, it's definitely easier with the real thing though
