Jan, Caitlin and I are trying to plan a live show and thought we'd better try to gauge potential interest about a date and our choice of hall. Does anyone fancy coming to Derbyshire for a show?
The hall we are looking at using is Hulland Ward village hall. It is quite spacious and modern and has plenty of car parking and has good disabled access. I would supply better directions nearer the time but the postcode is DE6 3EG. It is approximately a half hour drive from the M1, you would come off at junction 28 if travelling from the north or junction 25 if travelling from the south.
A lift may be able to be arranged for a limited number of people from Derby station if anyone needed to get a train - it is about a half hour drive away. If this applies to anyone then you're welcome to PM me to discuss
The local area is lovely for anyone wanting to stay (I'm local and would happily be a tour guide and spend a day with anyone wanting to stay locally for the non-show day!) - it's right on the edge of the Peak District and Carsington Reservoir is a two minute drive from the hall, which may suit people's parents/partners who want to go off and explore while the show is going on! I can recommend local hotels to anyone interested, the nearest Travelodge is ten minutes' drive away in Ashbourne, and there are lots of campsites/caravan sites very close to the hall. There is a local shop just a few minutes walk (two minute drive) from the hall and there is also a pub, which would be ideal if anyone wanted to stay for a drink or some food (and a good natter!) after the show.
We are looking at a Saturday or Sunday in either April or May 2016. The entry fee is yet to be finalised but would be around the £10/table mark, depending on numbers. The schedule would make an appearance nearer the time too but expect a fun Julip show with a relaxed atmosphere! At the moment we are trying to get an idea of numbers and of what day/date suits people - please understand that we can't please everyone but we'd really like this to go ahead if there is enough interest!
(I've added a poll to the thread here, so if anyone would be very interested in a show at this location then please vote for which weekends you could do The show would either be on a Saturday or a Sunday, so if you have any strong preference for one or the other then please let us know - I didn't include them all individually in the poll because it would have been a bit long!)
(edit to add - I don't know how I managed it when I had a calendar in front of me as I wrote it, but Jan has just let me know that I've written the dates wrong for the first weekend in April - can't seem to edit it but '1st/2nd' should be '2nd/3rd'!)
