I've been thinking if it would be possible to buy a "blank" Julip to paint it by myself? Is it even possible to buy a blank, unpainted Julip? If yes, what kind of paints would be the best to paint a whole model - so that the wouldn't crack when legs are being bent, etc. (I've got way too little to do lately XD)

We were talking about this at the show - I think the conclusion was that without the special latex paints and thinners, the paint would just crack because it was painted onto a flexible model. I have no idea if you can buy those paints or if they are made at Julip so I suppose you could look into it if a blank one were available.

I've looked into latex paints before for this very purpose but the sort you need are not easy to come by and aren't particularly easy to use. (Having done some PYOs at Julip shows before, I can say that the paint for markings etc is like trying to paint with PVA glue, it's awful!)
You *can* paint them with acrylics but it's not really advisable as it isn't intended for latex. I've done a few restoration/custom jobs with acrylics which seem stable after a few years but I know that ten, twenty years into the future that probably won't be the case.

Aww, sorry - I didn't mean to just say "Nope, no way, can't be done!", if it was something you really really wanted to try there might be a way, it just may be more trouble than it's worth! I've just discovered customising the HOTY models as a fun thing to do, they look great painted up with more shading and details
