We're doing an Advent calendar again over on Facebook and thought folks would enjoy seeing the pictures here as well. 1st December by Jane P. The snow has fallen! And the Tucker family have decided to move to a more sheltered position but have got caught in a snow drift. Everyone tries to help to get moving again but Gypsy the cob is not appreciating everyone’s efforts!

3rd December by Helen D.“Hello, Young Lovers”
Greystones Livery Yard looked splendid with all its decorations up; Sally wasn’t usually one for fripperies and fuss but she’d conceded that it had been a tough year and so there was tinsel draped above every stable…even the horses had entered into the festive excitement!
Ella had just put Rodney’s tinsel antlers on him and was about to take a selfie for Insta, when she heard the crunching of snow beneath boots and looked up to see David, his cheeks flushed from the bitter cold. She felt the usual butterflies in her stomach flapping madly, much to her annoyance; she didn’t want to start blushing and going all silly in front of him!
“Alright?” he said, casually. He glanced over Ella’s shoulder and grinned. “I like Rodney’s headgear!”
“He’s not so sure about it,” she replied, as Rodney rubbed his poll against the door frame.
David laughed. “I don’t think Artemis would go for it, somehow.” He glanced above their heads. “Oh look…mistletoe…”

8th December by Amanda D.Patrick had been wondering what had happened to his new pair of shoes, one of them had gone missing! It turns out that the new cob at the riding school,(aided and abetted by Sebastian the turkey) had pinched his shiny new brogue to put out for St. Nicholas. St. Nick had duly filled the shoe with some nice gold coins, the best thing about them was that they were the chocolate variety. Here we see Pat wondering the best angle of attact to retrieve his footwear without getting savaged by the horse or the turkey! Turkeys rank alongside geese as 'Creatures I Do Not Mess With' as they are big and intimidating!

10th December by Michelle ParkerThe brumbies stand on the dunes overlooking the beach at Christmas time. The surfers and wave jumpers ride the waves. The mums and dads and little kids play in the water, staying between the flags. The babies sleep in the cool shade of their tents, waking for a bottle and a regretted taste of sand. The teenagers sunbake in the afternoon, in multi-coloured towels and skin, while the grand parents watch on from the air-conditioned club, sipping their Chardonnays and shandies. The surf lifesavers watch and wait, red and yellow, rescue boards and boat at the ready. The sun is warm and the breeze blows cool across the golden bodies and the white sand. The Norfolk pines line the beach, like giant Christmas trees stretching across the horizon. As the sun starts to set the pink and orange light bursts through and decorates their branches with stars. The mums and dads and kids and lifeguards shake out their sandy things and go. But the teenagers light a bonfire and party into the night, dancing to their music, then softly singing Silent Night as the flames die down. The grandparents and their friends eat at the bistro and play bingo loudly. In the dark, the brumbies slowly turn and make their way down to the beach in the moonlight.

11th December By JanIt's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...There had been a sprinkling of snow at the yard and, after a long day at work, Holly had almost finished putting up tinsel and lights around Cautley's stable. Cautley was already rugged up, with an extra blanket over the door ready to put on before she went home. It was forecast to be a cold night. Farmer Grey had called in to see if Holly wanted any help and was about to clear some of the snow but paused watching the stable menagerie enjoying the snow in the gathering dusk. Although, there is someone possibly less welcome hiding under the Christmas tree... 🤨

13th December by Charlie H.
Bringing home the tree
Charlie thought it would be a lovely way to spend an afternoon taking the yard kids out to choose a tree for the stables. The reality was the boys spent the whole way home complaining that they wanted the bigger tree whilst Lady was merrily spooking at the tinsel neck strap despite this being her 23rd Christmas so she should really know better by now.
Fortunately smudge saved the trip by being an absolute angel pulling the sledge after only recently starting learning to ride and drive. Charlie found the afternoon not very festive at all and went home to drink a bottle of mulled wine to make up for it 🍷 Cheers!
