Some of you might have seen that coloured Equorum I had up for sale. I bought it back in September and picked it up when visiting the UK to go to Julip Live. I know it'll always be Julips for me, but I always thought it'd be nice to have a few examples of other British brands as well. I do for example have two cute Edith Reynolds ponies, as well as a Montague Arthur. As I do quite like the look for some Equorums, I decided to order just one, painted to my wishes. That turned out to be Mr. Brown, a very adorable 'Fjord', with an adjusted headset.
As the months went by I noticed I didn't like him as much as I'd hoped. I mean: he's pretty, but that's all. I decided to put him up for sale, but soon found out Equorums don't seem to hold their value very well... and there isn't much of a market for them either. He'd been for sale quite some time, until I received a message from a lovely lady who collects Equorums... but also had just a handful of Julips. She asked me if I'd consider trading and well... I did!
She welcomed me to pick any two I liked: I quickly decided on the stunning dropped head hunter she had and, after a little thought, decided to pick the cute cob stallion as well. Mr. Brown arrived to his new home the same day as my two Julips arrived at the Wollepluis' stables. The lovely lady was incredibly happy with her new addition, and I absolutely adore mine! A perfect trade!
The dropped 'realism range' hunter was named Dapples and the 'catalogue' cob was named Socks: very cute names, that I decided to keep. They both had nylon hair, which I very much dislike, so I quickly decided to send them off to the hairdressers. Dapples also had some flecks of paint missing, which I managed to fix. As he has such a stunning head, decided to give him plaits, using the 'embroidery thread'-technique, but use actual mohair instead. It was a bit of a struggle, but I think it turned out very pretty, just like the plaits on those lovely vintage Julips. Socks' got some lovely cream white wavy mohair locks as well!
It took me a little while to take proper photos of them (because of a very unlucky accident with a cup of hot chocolate and my trusty Macbook), but here they finally are!
