Wait, what? You didn’t even complete your last project. Yep, I know, still working on that one! But hear me out on this new project! Recently I bought two really adorable Edith Reynolds ponies. They are still making their way over, but they will come with their riders and... a stable. Although I don’t really have a use for another stable, I couldn’t bear to brake up the lot, as I assume it was once bought as a complete set. It seems to be the exact same stable as seen in the old advert. It’s a flat pack stable, made of what it seems rather sturdy wood, unlike the Model Horse Tack Shop one I redecorated before. I wasn’t too sure if it would be alright to redecorate the Reynolds stable at first: it’s quite old already and I’m not too sure how many are still out there. But, because the stable doesn’t really go with the ‘theme’ (if I can call it that), that I’ve got going on I thought I’d get more joy out of it if I redecorated this one too. I’ve been thinking about what to do with it and decided on going for a rigorous redecoration and use some techniques I have never used before (but have always wanted too), such as making egg carton bricks and grout. Because the stall flat packs there’s some rather unusually shaped nooks I have to take in consideration. I couldn’t wait to make a little mock up of what I’m intending to do with it and look up some helpful tutorials. Because I rather enjoyed documenting the progress last time I decided to make another thread. I’m away for work lots this summer, so I think it will be some time until the stable is done. I do however aim to finish it before Julip Live! Although the stable is intended for my Reynolds/Montague ponies, I’ve decided the Julip ponies may borrow it every once in a while too! It might make a nice backdrop too.

Looking forward to seeing your horses and riders when they arrive, I love the idea of the textured walls on the stable, I think that will look great

Seen from the photos the Reynolds ones seem to be in a very good condition, the Montague is a little more worn down, but that does add to the charm I think!

Maple and Minnie - I haven't introduced them anywhere yet, but I picked them up at the latest spares night - are curious about the pile of little packages that were 'delivered' to the yard just now. They're lovely Iriginals kits by 'In het Poppenhuis' and include a lovely work bench, some crates, a little chair and even an insect house that I'm planning to attach to the outside of the barn! You have to be kind to the bees and insects, even in miniature form! The owner of the dollhouse shop even gave me some really helpful tips and advice on making the structured walls and showed me a couple of lovely examples. There's just so many possibilities with this technique! It's just such a lovely little shop and the owner puts so much work and effort into creating new kits and items. They also have workshops every other Saturday. Unfortunately I do work most Saturdays, so I haven't been able to attend a workshop yet. Or at least not one where they made anything that would be of use at the yard. I mean, although I think the pets would be happy to sleep in a dollhouse bed, I doesn't quite go with the aesthetic I've got going on. Anyway, this is the only update I can give you thus far. I'm still eagerly waiting for the post man to arrive with the stable!

These look lovely, you are so lucky to have a dolls house shop near you, they all seem to have closed down around here, I expect that ebay and high rates for the shops are to blame

I do still get most of my stuff online, but I love to go to that place every once in a while. Same goes for art and sewing supply shops. I actually complimented the owner on the fact that’s she is still able to keep the shop running. It’s in a really lovely, and I assume rather expensive, location too. She told me that they are actually moving to an even bigger place, so they are able to do the the laser cutting at the same location as where you’ll find the shop and workshop place. I think one of the biggest reasons she’s able to run a shop these days is the kits they produce. She mentioned how it started as a hobby, that has truly gotten out of hand.

Wow... those Edith Reynolds are in great condition! Although the Monague Arthur isn't in such good condition he does have really nice eyes and a very kind expression, looking forward to seeing the stable transformation:)

I did look good on the photos, but you can never truly tell. I really wouldn't be amazed if they've never been played with. The stitches and hooves are flawless, the skin is perfect. It's like they've only just left the shop!

Sooooo, yes: I never quite got around working on this particular Edith Reynolds stable. Because it flatpacks with quite big ‘hooks’, it proved to be rather challenging to do with it what I (‘texturing’ the walls) imagined. I have for now packed and stored it away and might put it up for sale.
I however did take apart the very first stable I redid and plan on redecorating that one in this style, as the way it’s built really works with my plans. I promise to post updates soon!
