I was so lucky to be able to get the wonderful vintage set being sold on here. It's so very rare to find Julips being sold over here and as I normally miss out on vintages as most sellers don't want to post them over here I was so excited about these guys.
They arrived safe and sound Monday and I think the excitement of opening them all up and dancing around the kitchen was what threw my neck out! So I have only just had chance to photograph them all today. I am just glad that, as they are my mother's day, anniversary, birthday and Christmas present, Jim didn't make me wait until December to unwrap them!
I need to try to tame their manes and tails, although they have so much character as they are, so any tips greatly appreciated! Apart from that and some leg cracking they are in pretty good shape, all nice and bendy still. I am completely in love with them.
Introducing...
Peanut
Whiskey
Sooty (or sweep, not decided yet)
This is Cupcake (Jim insisted one had a birthday name and it seems to suit her) She is massive! Much bigger than my more recent Connemaras.
Paddington (I think is the Cob Stallion mould?) He has a lot of cracking bless him but his mane and tail are fab, so soft!
And last but by no means least, I finally have an event horse! I haven't decided on a name yet for her, may be Champagne or something similar. Is there any hope to save her mane and tail? Or will it have to be replaced. I'd like to save it if possible.
There was also a set of riders, all in really good condition, the poor chap in hunting gear appears to have had his throat slit! and a couple have some thinning hair but they are nice and bendy still. The girl in yellow second from the left looks just like my old riding instructor so her name is Dawn. The others will get names and their own ponies at some point...
And finally, 2 rugs, 5 saddles and 4 bridles. Squee! and a Julip advert in dollars! I had no idea Julips had ever been sold over here. The prices are pretty steep for the 80's but it's lovely to see. Maybe I will get lucky and find a Julip at a car boot sale here after all!
I can't wait to have a proper play when I am feeling a bit better. Thank you to Ms Christina for trusting me with your beloved childhood ponies, they will be loved and cherished here.
