My actual question is "Are these HOTY Arabs and, even though I think they're adorable and will not be selling, are they worth anything at all?"
Hello hello! I will try to make this short.
I'm a long time collector of horses, lots of sub-genres of the same, I have literal thousands as I'm sure many here do as well. Julip is very little known in America, it's mostly Breyer here and I just don't like Breyer. They're too perfecty-perfect looking for me, they lack personality. I stumbled on Julip accidentally several years ago and had to have one and see it in person regardless of expense, I bought Oliver the cob, he instantly stunned me, so now I have a modest collection of 11 Julip originals and one hoty Bob the cob that serves as a mount for my jean luc Picard action figure.
When I was a little girl I got one present for my tenth birthday, it was a cheap bandai set of six bendy horses, two riders, two saddles, two bridles, six fences, and a small two-box stable. I'd never seen anything so magnificent in my life. My friend and I played with those cheap little things for HOURS. I should have considered the possibility that my childhood set came from overseas, as they came from my friend's mother who was a lovely lady married to a wealthy doctor who loved buying expensive toys for her children. Like I remember this amazing pirate ship. Anyway, I had to leave my possessions behind when I left home, and a lifetime long search to find them again ended last week when I found a $30 eBay lot from Michigan. I was so focused on my six new beautiful little worthless babies I didn't even look at the rest of the lot, not for a second, I've purchased tons of lots in my life and I've never done that before.
If it had been coming from the UK or something with the keywords "rubber horses" I would have known to check the lot for unidentified Julips, but as it was coming from Michigan, I didn't check, and I just thought I would be getting a lot full of pieces that would be worthless to everyone but me. Anyway, I get the lot and these two fellows are in it;
